Clemenger BBDO Sydney has made a twin creative director hiring, bringing in South African Ian Broekhuizen and Brit Malcolm Caldwell from Publicis Mojo Sydney.

The pair joined Mojo in 2012, and before that came together as a creative team at DDB Sydney just over two years ago.

The pair will report to agency ECD Paul Nagy, who said: “Ian and Malcolm are proven creative all-rounders with broad awards success and will help to build on the international standard we’re setting here. In the last 12 months we’ve won gold at Cannes, the Spikes, the Asian Digital Festival and Adfest, plus a Grande Lotus at Adfest, so they’re arriving at a terrific time.”

“They’re humble guys, who make genuinely interesting, effective work, and will be great additions to what I believe is one of the most exciting creative departments in Sydney,” he said.

Broekhuizen spent the first seven years of his career at Ogilvy Johannesburg, while Caldwell started out in the UK, and has worked at agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett and Inferno.

The pair said in a statement: “Coming to Clemenger at such an exciting time was too good an opportunity to turn down – working with Paul and an exceptionally talented group of people on some of the country’s best brands with the chance to produce award winning work,” Malcolm said. “It’s exactly why we got into the business in the first place.”
