Cops LAC rallies as Rake premieres to middling ratings
After the ignominy of being dumped from primetime, Nine’s Cops LAC has rallied in its later timeslot for a second successive week.
Thursday night saw the police drama rate an average audience of 599,000 for its 9.30pm episode and 410,000 for its 10.30pm episode, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.
The previous week the 9.30 episode had rated 560,000 which had itself been an improvement on the week before that’s 487,000.
In primetime it was a bad night for Australian made programming on the commercial networks. Seven’s Beauty And the Geek Australia (931,000); Nine’s Getaway (858,000), Ten’s Keeping Up With the Joneses (909,000), Bondi Vet (923,000) and Rush (773,000) all failed to rate above 1m.
Meanwhile, ABC1’s new legal drama Rake, which the broadcaster had heavily promoted, rated 900,000, tenth for the night.
I was one of the 599,000 who watched Cops LAC and I was appalled by how bad it was. Who would’ve imagined the fight between two women and a male cop next to a pool would’ve ended with all three of them in the pool! Ho ho ho!
So bad.

Word will get around about Rake – i thought it would be same old same old but was pleasantly surprised. Funny. Funny. Funny – wonderful seeing great actors tear up the screen.

Cops Lac may not only have died itself but may also have terminated Kate Richie’s Television career….Kate you should have stayed at Nova radio…..

Can Channel 9 just get rid of Cops LAC and put on a romantic show instead? I am sick of all this police stuff!

i’m not a experience tv writer but i do write tv scripts and tv show ideas at home. i currantly finsh writng my own pilot and i hope a network might pick it up one day. for cops lac i say they aired it too soon and 9 shouldn’t let it clash with rush.
i think also dingle-wall and sweet acted pretty well but the story lines wasn’t really up to scratch.
my show idea is not really a cops show but more of a detective show,
i think the viewers are getting tired of cop shows, rush thired season has been a bit of a dissapointment in the ratings and city homicide did had a brief scare midway but bounce back up to the 1m mark.
if anyboby is interested of my ideas let me know on facebook or e mail thechrisryanshow@hotmail.com.

Based on his writing style and spelling, I reckon Christopher Ryan would make an excellent Cops LAC writer.

Ease up Mike. He’s writing a screenplay about sultanas with an ESL cast who fight the evil forces of punctuation and capital letters – it’s original.

Channel nine shouldnt have put cops lac up against rush. They got cocky and now theyre left to clean up their mistakes. Rush is just too good
