Financial Review offers strong return on investment
When Dr Mumbo’s colleagues revealed on Thursday afternoon that the Financial Review has published “the world is fukt” on its front page they didn’t realise they might also be turning it into a collector’s item.
While AFR editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury has since apologised for the front cover Dr Mumbo is bemused to see one copy sell on eBay on the weekend for $49.00.
Or as the Financial Review might report that’s 1,300 per cent return on investment (ROI) in four days…nice.
That’s an ROI even Michael Stutchbury (aka Stutch) might just be proud of.
Oh, and don’t worry if you missed out there are lots more profit hunters now flogging their editions at anywhere from $81 to $20.
Dr Mumbo suspects this snafu has boosted the AFR’s circulation in the West.
The AFR is clearly FUKT. Today’s paper has a sub offer of $180 for the web site and weekend paper for 6 months. The only “benefit” of that is in nominal reader numbers, in which case they might as well start handing them out at Flinders st station. Get ready for the Titanic moment.
