New Idea editor-in-chief Kim Wilson joins Kidspot.com.au

New Idea editor-in-chief Kim Wilson has been appointed editor-in-chief of NewsLifeMedia’s parenting website Kidspot.com.au.

Wilson, who commences in the role in mid-September, will be responsible for growing NewsLifeMedia’s mass market female portfolio and maintaing Kidspot.com.au’s market position with Australian women while expanding the editorial offering of the brand.

NewsLifeMedia CEO Nicole Sheffield said in a statement: “Kidspot.com.au is the original thought leader in digital publishing, it revolutionised connecting with women, not just as mums but as CEOs of the household. The opportunity to attract someone of Kim Wilson’s calibre to NewsLifeMedia to lead our offering for Australian women at this time of growth in the business is incredibly exciting.

“Kim is an experienced and focused editor with extensive media experience and a strong market understanding. She will look to expand our mass female offering and I’m anticipating a number of launches in the women’s space under her leadership. This combined with the reach, engagement and connection of the Kidspot.com.au platform and the smarts of Kim Wilson will be an unstoppable force.”

Kidspot.com.au’s managing director Prue Cox said: “We’ve been investing heavily in the brand and rebuilding the foundations of the site over the past six months, launching innovative new products and refreshing sections of the site to further enhance our already strong offering for Australian women. We’ve seen traffic and engagement growth already for the site which is very satisfying. Kim leading our editorial direction focused on ‘her’, through career, relationships, home, celebrity, news, health and well-being, rounds out our expanded market offering and I can’t wait to see what she will create.”

Previously Wilson launched OK! Magazine in Australia.

Commenting on her appointment Wilson said: “It’s an exciting time for our industry, particularly in digital media where the growth, development and potential are awesome. I’m really inspired by Nicole Sheffield’s vision, and the energy and trajectory of NewsLifeMedia – and honoured to have the opportunity to build on the successes of the much-loved Kidspot.com.au. I look forward to working with Prue Cox and the brilliant Kidspot team to give Australian women the most positive, dynamic and engaging digital community in the market.”
