News Limited makes redundancies in marketing team

News Limited has made a number of redundancies as part of a restructure of its NSW marketing team.

A spokesman told Mumbrella: “We are currently talking to affected staff about redeployment opportunities within the business, but that the reality is a small number of people will unfortunately be leaving the business.” Asked about the number of redundancies, he said: “You can count them on one hand”.

  4. Harry James,

Obviously spoken from the incredibly comfortable position of knowing where your next paycheck is coming from. Here are 4 or 5 people who do not have that reassurance or luxury and you treat their position as being trivial, not newsworthy enough to even be bothered with.

They are a few people who may not have any income in the coming months and in a tough economic climate where many in the industry breathe a sigh of relief for still actually having a job, you brush them aside with a swish of your own self important inflated ego.

Pathetic and heartless and shallow as a car park puddle.

  6. Greasy, car park puddles are greasy as well!

While it’s going to be traumatic, hopefully these five people, forced to sell themselves on the job market come out of it with more money, stability and satisfaction. Good luck.

  12. Not sure why this makes it into Mumbrella when the Farfax chop continuing ( four sub-editors made redundant this week at the Launceston Examiner – in the middle of a EPA dispure no less) seems to have passed without a single comment from anyone.
