No Australians, thanks
An intriguing job for a Sydney based media planner has just been posted on the Mumbrella job board.
Australians need not apply.
Dr Mumbo has no idea if exceptions will be made if they know the Kiwi market really really well…
(Update: Advertiser Big Eave Digital has, curiously enough, now deleted the job.)
Just another way of shaving $30k off the salary, that’s all.

I hope they’re better at media planning than they are at employment law.
This advertisement clearly breaches the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act, which forbids discrimination on the basis of national origin.

Maybe the ‘multimillion dollar FMCG’ client doesn’t want to pay for two account teams in AU & NZ – it’s easier (and cheaper) to hub everything from the Sydney office and just have one planner looking after the NZ market. Interesting to see if this takes off further as multi-nationals cut marketing budgets even further…

Not new – in a recent ad for positions resident Screen Qld morons told fellow banana benders exact same thing.

Appears they know me better than I thought: I followed that link, and, it said:

I’m not even going to bother going on a rant about outsourcing Australian jobs. They sign their ads off “Hey, good luck dudes and dudettes!” That kind of talk might just fly in NZ.
