Only three shows beat 1m on another miserable Thursday night for TV ratings

On another dreary Thursday night for television viewing, not a single non-news show was watched by more than one million people.

Seven’s Home & Away was closest, with 997,000, according to preliminary reports from OzTam.

The long-running show, on at 7pm, beat ABC News, The Big Bang Theory on Nine and a repeat of Modern Family on Ten, which pulled in 546,000.

The night was won by Seven News, the most watched show every night this week. It rated with 1.187m, followed by Today Tonight, on the same channel, with 1.088m.

The only other show to eclipse 1m viewers was Nine News.

Media buyers, advertisers and TV viewers will be looking forward to the end of the non-ratings period, which is on Sunday.
