Pacific Magazines has appointed Who editor Nicky Briger as editor of fashion title Marie Claire to replace long-time incumbent Jackie Frank who has taken on a wider position as group publisher for Pacific Magazine fashion and health titles, including Marie Claire.

Briger has edited Who magazine since late 2007 having been the editor of Instyle from 2003 to 2007. She has also worked at Fairfax and ACP and worked for Marie Claire from 1995 to 2001 in a variety of roles including features director and deputy editor.

On the appointment of Briger, Frank, who was the launch editor of the title and has been with it for 20 years, said: “Nicky’s knowledge of – and passion for – breaking news, pop culture, celebrity, fashion and beauty is a perfect and potent mix for Marie Claire.

“For many years, Nicky has tapped into the zeitgeist, working at a fast, relentless pace, and I know she’ll bring this knowledge and passion to the job. As Marie Claire cements itself as a powerful multi-platform, digital brand, these skills are invaluable.

“I’ve known Nicky for two decades – she was one of my first hires on Marie Claire in 1995 – so I look forward to us both working together to take the brand to its next exciting level.”

According to the last Audit Bureau of Circulation figures for the six months ended June 2014, Marie Claire has a circulation of 84,612.

On her appointment Briger said: “I’m incredibly excited about working with Jackie again who, after 20 years as editor and publisher, is an invaluable custodian of the brand.”

A recruitment process to replace Briger at Who is underway.
