Palace Cinemas appoints Benjamin Zeccola to CEO
Benjamin Zeccola has been appointed to CEO of Palace Cinemas. He replaces father and founder of the cinema chain Antonio Zeccola who will continue as an active executive chairman.
The announcement:
Palace Cinemas today announced the appointment of Benjamin Zeccola as Chief Executive Officer.
After 50 years of managing the cinema business, the group’s founder, Antonio Zeccola, will continue in an active Executive Chairman role and will focus his time sourcing new development opportunities and remain heavily involved with Palace Films and the enormously successful variety of Film Festivals hosted by Palace Cinemas*.
Antonio founded and created Palace Cinemas from humble beginnings with great vision and commitment. He has worked tirelessly to create a national group of prestige cinemas, now spanning 23 locations and over 100 screens.
Antonio said: “Benjamin has been increasingly running the business on a day to day basis over recent years and it is appropriate for me to now formalise that role. I now have more time to focus on adding new cinemas and screens and growing Palace Cinemas and Palace Films to even greater heights. I feel blessed to have four such great children who all play very valuable and passionate roles in our family business”.
Benjamin has worked across every aspect of the business over the past 20 years and his initiatives, particularly in sponsorship and hospitality have created significant value for the company. Benjamin said: “I have dedicated my life to helping my father run this business. From early childhood I knew exactly what I wanted to do: work with my family in the glorious world of cinema exhibition, relieve my father of some of the strain and create a very special cinema experience for our patrons. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to follow in my father’s footsteps and hope to make him proud, as my siblings and I work to fulfil the potential of Palace”.
Antonio’s three other children, Stephanie, Antony and Elysia are also key executives within the business making Palace one of Australia’s most successful family businesses.
*Palace hosted Film Festivals include: The Lavazza Italian Film Festival; The Alliance Francaise French Film Festival; The Spanish Film Festival; The German Film Festival; the Israeli Film Festival; The Greek Film Festival; The Palestinian Film Festival and The Russian Film Festival.
