Queensland ‘co-operative marketing agency’ launches

'Lead squady' Hanns Bergs

A group of Queensland marketers have got together to form a co-operative marketing agency called BrandSquad.

Fifteen marketers who claim to have 300 years of combined experience on client and agency side, working on brands including Woolworths, News Limited and Pfizer, will offer advice on a range of marketing disciplines, from creative and digital to public relations and media buying.

The group will managed by Hanns Bergs, who came up with the idea. Bergs, whose career includes a stint as senior planner as KWP! Advertising, group account director at Ogilvy and marketing manager at Standard Bank MasterCard, takes on the title of ‘lead squady’.

Bergs said in a press release: “We’re essentially a full spectrum ‘Co-operative Marketing Agency’. Because we only mobilise on a needs or project basis, we don’t have bricks and mortar overheads so we’re able to offer our core strategic services very reasonably. We are not intended as a threat to the traditional ad agency model, but are here to offer another solution to businesses that want quality and experienced marketing  advice  and services without the burden of having to pay the big agency retainer fees or contracts.”

He added: “By bringing together the very best of Queensland’s marketing and communications professionals into one co-operative group, we can provide an exceptional and dynamic service for businesses of any size. A new marketing world requires a new approach – keep doing things the same old way and you get left behind fast.”

BrandSquad will work out of Queensland, but will offer its services at a national level.
