Top 10 finalists announced for Optus One80 Project
The top 10 finalists for the short film competition, the Optus One80 Project, run in association with by Optus and MTV, were announced last night.
Entrants were asked to submit a 180 second pilot and a treatment. The winner will receive $180,000 to turn the pilot into a one hour drama.
The hundreds of entries were whittled down to the ten finalists by MTV and Optus representatives.

The ten finalists included dramas Deadbeat Dads and Starfish, comedies King, Trainerz and thrillers Seed and The School.
Actors Lincoln Lewis and David Wenham alongside 2010 winner, director Maia Horniak, will select the final winner which will be announced at a festival to be held in Sydney on March 18. Creators of the winning entry will go on to produce a one hour special for MTV.
Last year’s winner Christian Van Vuuren, otherwise known as the Fully Sick Rapper, will premiere Sick, his one hour drama, at the festival. Returning judge Wenham told Encore Van Vuuren’s entry was, “Completely original, compelling and captivating. I could see the unique potential for a unique hour of television”.
