Pause Fest
The world’s best and brightest technology buffs will converge in Melbourne in February to celebrate the fifth annual “Pause Fest”, Australia’s premier festival on all things digital.
Featuring talks and presentations by representatives from industry heavyweights such as “The Lego Movie” animation studio Animal Logic, Buzzfeed, Guardian Australia, Clemenger BBDO, Silicon Valley strategist Alexander Chung, PayPal, Eventbrite, TEDx, MONA and more, Pause Fest is bringing the ‘bleeding edge’ of technology to Australian audiences.
With Pause Fest running from Monday, February 9 until Sunday, February 15, some of the headliner shows include:
• “Flow” – free audience installation at Federation Square where crowd movements are tracked to influence LED streams
• “The Wonder Dome” – free audience interaction installation where participants use the movements of their body to create new soundtracks
• “VFX Jam” – teams enrol in a two-day competition workshop to create a visual effects piece judged by industry leaders
• “Tech_Bar” – daily catch-up location with free demonstrations, parties, workshops and more
• “Can Australia become the next Silicon Valley?” – presented by technology and innovation strategist, Alexander Chung direct from New York
• “Web for Good” – conference on creative superheroes that use technology for good
• “Storytelling on the Open Web” – conference lead by producers and editors behind cult-followed outlets such as This American Life, Newsmodo, Buzzfeed and more
• “The $1B B-Faculty” – conference led by eight self-made Australian entrepreneurs
• “TAC Creative Hackathon” – crowd-source workshop tackling the Victorian road toll
• “LIFX (title TBC)” – free audience interaction installation where users can manipulate energy efficient lights via a smartphone app
