Tarni James has worked in the television industry for the past 30 years as a journalist, producer, writer and director across all of Australia’s free-to-air networks, subscription channels, independent production companies and the BBC.
Starting in the media as a radio news reader and journalist, Tarni moved into television and amongst a vast array of freelance jobs, ran the development unit for Fremantlemedia Australia. She has created programming for arts, sport, current affairs, children’s, news, comedy, variety and documentary genres, producing extensively in the field in Britain, USA, Africa, The Pacific, Europe and remote Australia and has documentary credits that include Family Footsteps, ABC (8 x 1 hr); The Naked Lentil, SBS (4 x 1Ž2 hour); Jail Birds (4 x 1 hour) ABC; the environmental series Carbon Cops (6 X 1/2 hour) ABC; and Grand Designs Australia series 1 (10 x1 hour) Foxtel Lifestyle Channel.
Tarni is currently Executive Producer of Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell; The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, Comedy Up Late and Dirty Laundry Live and will share her substantial experience and insight with host Margot McDonald.
