In this week's Dynamic Duos, Georgia Swanson, director of strategy and growth, and Cameron Boog, global tech innovation leader, at NCS Group, chat about their working relationship, their admirations for one another, and how, while working together on a project, "everything just clicked".

In Dynamic Duos, Mumbrella each week asks two colleagues with a professional and personal affiliation to share with readers the importance of workplace relationships in an increasingly hybridised world of work.

Georgia Swanson:

Cam and I first started working together in 2021, and in mid 2022, when my portfolio expanded to include marketing and strategic partnerships, we began to work more closely together. We have since worked on a number of initiatives over the few years, with one of the most recent examples being how we integrate the Australian arm of Singapore-based NCS and execute local campaigns for clients across digital, data, metaverse and AI.

I really admire Cam’s logical way of thinking and have learnt so much from working with him. He takes the time to think through an approach, determine all the various pathways, consider the best way forward and has an incredible skill of making people feel included and part of the journey along the way. He is also extremely supportive and cares about our team.

Cam brings this awesome energy to the table, effortlessly handling tricky situations with a cool, logical approach that just impressive – it’s seriously inspiring. His strategic brain isn’t just for making decisions; it’s like our turbo boost toward success. And what makes him really stand out is how he makes everyone feel part of the ride.

Whether we’re bouncing around ideas or tackling tough stuff head-on, Cam makes sure every voice counts. Because of his fantastic leadership, our team has smashed through obstacles and pulled off some seriously cool projects that seemed impossible at first. A recent example was the NCS IMPACT event in Singapore in 2023. His logical thinking and presentation skills, combined with my expertise around customer frameworks, allowed us to effectively brief over 100 sales representatives on a ground-breaking new sales framework aligned with ‘Making Tomorrow.’ It was a true testament to Cam’s ability to lead and inspire.

Cameron Boog:

Georgia joined the business in 2021 and we were in the market looking for someone to join our marketing team to help us engage better with our customers. I recall the partner who interviewed Georgia rang me straight after her interview and said “we’ve got to hire her”. The rest is now history.

Georgia is a super professional, and I admire her mindset. She is also super competitive, loves a good challenge, and cultivates a survive and thrive mindset. She is an expert in her field, and since working with her, I have gained a new found respect and appreciation for the role marketing plays in our business, and how important it is to really know your customer to effectively engage with them through a campaign.

Georgia is our resident perfectionist, and it’s one of her most admirable qualities! Her attention to detail, dedication to excellence, and deep expertise in her field make her truly stand out. Whether she’s devising marketing strategies or interacting with customers, Her perfectionist mindset is evident in every task she undertakes. She holds herself and her team to high standards, ensuring that every project is not just completed, but completed with precision and care. Thanks to Georgia’s commitment, our projects have been incredibly successful, and she has helped foster a culture of quality and excellence within our team.

Georgia on Cameron:

Most memorable moment with Cameron: One of the most memorable moments was in late 2022. Cam and I were knee-deep in strategy brainstorming, trying to figure out how to spice up our customer connections and marketing mojo. In the middle of our jam-packed schedules, we began an impromptu brainstorming session that extended well into the evening. It was like a sticky note explosion on our online whiteboard as we tossed around all sorts of blue sky ideas to level up our sales game and impress our clients. But what really made this moment unforgettable wasn’t just the brainstorming buzz; it was the awesome teamwork and shared vision we had. Cam’s logical thinking and my strategic insights came together well, leading us to a breakthrough in our project. This whole experience wasn’t just about work; it also showcased the great synergy we’ve got in our working partnership and how fun work can be with the right people.

Best word to describe him: Strategist.

Most annoying habit or endearing behaviour he has: Cam’s most endearing behaviour is his meticulousness in decision-making. It’s not just about ticking boxes; it’s about diving deep into each option, meticulously examining every angle, and foreseeing potential outcomes. He has an impressive level of dedication and unwavering commitment to excellence and risk management. His approach isn’t just about making decisions; it’s about making the right decisions, decisions that stand the test of time.

Cam has taught me, and the team, an invaluable lesson that success isn’t just about the decisions we make but about the thoughtfulness and precision behind them. His attention to detail isn’t just a trait; it’s a reflection of his genuine care for our team’s success and wellbeing.

Cameron on Georgia:

Most memorable moment with Georgia: The moment with Georgia that stands out the most was during the initial stages of the Capability Sales Enablement initiative. This project demanded tight collaboration and a thorough understanding of each other’s strengths. Georgia’s mastery in marketing and strategic partnerships was absolutely crucial. The way she guided the team, offering clear explanations and frameworks with such precision and enthusiasm, was truly inspiring. There was this one day when everything just clicked; we were all gathered in a meeting room, surrounded by our plans and ideas, and you could practically feel the synergy in the air. Her infectious energy and unwavering commitment not only lifted the team’s spirits but also brought out the best in each of us. It was during this project that I gained a profound admiration for Georgia’s depth of expertise and her remarkable ability to lead with both unwavering confidence and genuine empathy.

Best word to describe her: Perfectionist.

Most annoying habit or endearing behaviour she has: Georgia’s competitive nature is her most endearing trait. She thrives on challenges, constantly striving to surpass both her competition and her own achievements. This competitive drive leads to remarkable results and pushes boundaries. While her high expectations can be daunting, they’re also a catalyst for success. Georgia’s ‘survive and thrive’ mindset propels our team forward, even in the toughest situations. She transforms challenges into opportunities for growth, inspiring us all. With Georgia at the helm, every day is an adventure where we push limits, exceed expectations, and have fun along the way.
