Mint drives internal training as part of talent growth and retention strategy

The Mint Partners has launched a comprehensive integrated PR and communications training program for their employees.

The announcement:

Integrated brand and communications agency, The Mint Partners has launched a comprehensive integrated PR and communications training program for their employees that covers the full range of technical public relations disciplines, strategy and planning for creative campaigns, as well as a mentorship program, self-directed learning opportunities and professional leadership training.

Genevieve Taubman, co-founder and managing director for the Mint Partners said, “We place a great deal of focus on training in the agency, both upskilling and cross-skilling as well as personal development. Our sessions focus on defined career growth and industry best practice as well as personal growth and mental health and wellbeing – ensuring our team is well equipped to bring their best self to work each day and deliver first-class client service.

“As the media landscape continues to evolve and change, it is vital our team is using best practice methodology. The Mint training program has been developed by senior leaders in the business, along with external experts who we engage to drive forward those vitally important skills around leadership, resilience and mental health and wellbeing,” said Taubman.

Mint’s publicity director, Diane Glasson is leading the technical and practical application of the publicity training program which is delivered using real-life scenarios with practical exercises for participants to complete to develop and expand their skill base. Diane is a highly experienced communications professional having worked in the tourism, hospitality, major events, business events, property and lifestyle sectors for local, regional and international organisations across Government and private sector.

The PR module covers topics from media management, planning and strategy to media release writing, copy writing and content production, pitching, brand partnerships, crisis and issues management to networking, reporting and measurement.

Miranda Bryce, general manager at Mint, leads an intensive 5-part campaign strategy training program, designed to equip the team with the principles of research, insight development and generating fertile strategic propositions. Miranda’s creative agency background includes five years at Y&R, where she was involved in global strategic planning sessions for Revlon at the New York Head Office as part of the Y&R ‘Rising Star’ program.

All participants will receive a training certificate on conclusion, outlining the modules completed, which are counted towards their career objectives and reviewed for promotion opportunities.

Mint also works with Zoe Coyle, communications training leader from Pilot Light who conducts a series of immersive workshops designed to empower people to explore their full potential. Zoe is a leading certified facilitator for Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead Program.

“As the communications landscape continues to evolve and change, it’s vital our team is using best practice methodology. There is a shortage of skills and talent availability in the industry at the moment, it is vital for us at Mint to retain our talent. Our staff retention rate is on average 2.8 years, and we are looking to grow that rate significantly,” said Bryce.

In addition, Mint adopts an integrated employee performance management system, Culture Amp that provides professional learning and development modules along with a 360° feedback program, goal setting and performance tracking.

Mint has dedicated internal budgets to drive performance and self-learning in line with their strategy. Mint provides rewards for wins, failures and other learning opportunities as well as the introduction of a ‘Creative Credits’ program, where the team is incentivised to get out and attend cultural and creative events with the opportunity to earn dollar contributions towards their creative endeavours.
