Pinterest has announced the expansion of its shopping features to Australia, Canada, France and Germany offering Pinterest users the opportunity to shop right from Pins, on boards, from search, and from the inspiration they find in the real world using Lens camera search.

Shop from Pins on Pinterest

The announcement:

“Pinners will be able to get inspiration from Shopping spotlights, which showcase expert recommendations and trends from influential fashion and home tastemakers as well as publishers.

Pinterest’s new shopping features include Shopping List, a way for Pinners to have their product Pins automatically saved in one place, making it easier for them to come back and shop the items they’ve been eyeing when they’re ready to buy. Pinners will also be notified when they can get a good deal on products they’ve saved with price drop notifications. Available first in the US and UK, Shopping List will be coming to Australia, Canada, France and Germany later this year.

Pinterest will be expanding its newest suite of merchant tools to help retailers of all sizes, with the launch of the Verified Merchant Program in the UK, Australia, Canada, France and Germany, as well as merchant storefront on profile, and new product tagging in Australia, Canada, France and Germany.

Furthermore, Pinterest will unveil its “Shop the mood” campaign highlighting Pinterest’s unique value proposition of aesthetic-driven shopping with a curated collection of looks to shop inspired by Pinterest annual trends report, Pinterest Predicts.

Over the past year, global consumers increasingly turned to Pinterest as a key shopping destination and the number of Pinterest users engaging with shopping surfaces on Pinterest grew over 200% (source: Pinterest internal data, period ending 3/31/2021). Because Pinterest takes the best of considerate, slow shopping offline and brings it online, new research shows that people who visit Pinterest monthly outspent non-Pinners by 2x every month and have a 40% larger basket size. (Source: Dynata, Australia, 2021 Shopping for fashion and beauty among people who use Pinterest compared to people who don’t use Pinterest but use other platforms, April 2021)

New Ways To Shop On Pinterest

Shopping List: This new shopping feature will allow Pinners to easily access all the product Pins that they have saved on Pinterest in one place and find key information such as price, reviews and shipping in an even grid to compare products and make purchase decisions. Pinners will also be informed of any price update on these products thanks to price drop notifications. (Only available in the US & UK, coming soon to Australia, Canada, France and Germany).

Shop from search: When users come to Pinterest to search for ideas like “summer outfits”, they’ll find a shop tab with 100% shoppable results. Users can also shop by price and brand to find the right products for their style and price point.

Shop with Lens:Shopping with Lens connects real-world, offline inspiration to online ideas that can be shopped on Pinterest, powered by visual search. When Pinners see something that inspires them out in the real world, they can take a picture using the Pinterest camera and run a visual search for similar in-stock home decor and fashion products.

Shop from Pins: We know that users are often inspired by the images they see on Pinterest and want to know how they can buy the items shown in the Pins. Now, when Pinners tap on a Pin they’re interested in, we’ll show products and shoppable categories that are featured in the image. Through visual search technology, Pinners can shop the aesthetic of the Pins that inspire them.

Product Pins:When users discover products they love, we’ll show additional details like price, shipping, and reviews directly from the retailer so they can learn more and decide whether they want to buy.

Shopping Spotlights: Shopping spotlights introduce expert-selected, trending content to inspire Pinners to shop and discover new brands. With the feel of a personal stylist and the look of an editorial magazine, shopping the latest trends has never been easier. We’re kicking the experience off with product picks based on Pinterest trends from publishers including Marie Claire in Australia and in France and InStyle in Germany.

Shop from Boards: Pinners can see a dedicated Shop section on their boards, featuring in-stock product ideas from and inspired by their saved content.

New Ways For Merchants To Set Up Shop On Pinterest

Verified Merchant Program: We’ve launched the Verified Merchant Program with retailers like Culture King in Australia, KNIX in Canada, ROUJE in France, UNDGretel in Germany and M&S in the UK, who’ve met our qualifications for high quality products and website as well as positive customer service experiences. Verified Merchants will display a special blue checkmark on their profiles, and become eligible for increased distribution within high-intent shopping experiences and metrics like conversion reporting. Retailers interested in signing up for the program can learn more at pinterest.com/verified.

Shop Tab on profile: An updated profile enables merchants to transform their shop tab into a storefront with featured in-stock products organized by category, featured product groups and dynamically-created recommendations.

Product Tagging: With our product tagging feature, merchants can add inspirational images and tag them with shoppable products to connect users from inspiration to action. When Pinners close up on a Pin with tagged products, they’ll be able to see product details like title and price right in the scene, and can tap the tag to visit the product Pin and learn more, making it even easier to shop the inspiration they find on Pinterest.”
