Sport and TV personalities feature in ‘mobile-first’ Zip brand campaign

Zip has launched its new brand campaign in Australia, featuring six local celebrities and with the tagline ‘Can I Zip It? Yes You Can’.

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios, TV personality and influencer Flex Mami and Masterchef Judge Melissa Leong are joined by The Block’s Darren Palmer, DJ Fisher and influencer Rowi Singh for the campaign.

The buy now, pay later company worked to create the campaign with social-led agency We Are Social, as well as Facebook Creative Shop and independent media agency Avenue C.

The ‘Can I Zip It?’ brand platform aims to communicate Zip’s point of difference from other similar providers, being that it is accepted anywhere that accepts Visa contactless payments, not just retailers that have a commercial agreement with Zip.

Facebook Creative Shop creative strategist, Jay Morgan, revealed the campaign will leverage Instagram Reels as a starting point, one of the first campaigns to do so “as the starting point for an integrated brand campaign – truly mobile-first thinking”.

“Reels offers brands an opportunity to tap into the beating heart of culture, and this Zip campaign is a fantastic example. The Reels audience is spending a lot of time actively looking for entertainment, so we see a lot of scope for brands and great creativity.”

Zip chief customer officer, Steve Brennen, added: “Being able to use Zip everywhere was our Zip customer’s number one requested feature. Since launching our Tap & Zip product with Visa in October our customer response has been exceptional with a Net Promoter Score of +87.

“This campaign will make more consumers aware of this amazing product… while merchants get more customers, spending more.”

The campaign is soundtracked by a remix of the classic 1990 A Tribe Called Quest song ‘Can I Kick It?’. It is now rolling out across OOH, radio and social.

We Are Social managing director, Suzie Shaw, said: “The team at Zip have big ambitions and love big ideas – the BNPL category is growing rapidly and this campaign aims to help them capture an unfair share of that growth.”
