The Little Dragon saves a dinner date in new St George Bank spot
St George Bank has brought back the animated Little Dragon in a new spot reminding customers it’s easy to keep track of your credit card balance with ‘quick balance’.
The 30-second commercial shows Dave’s date ordering more oysters and caviar causing Dave to bolt to the bathroom to do a “runner” because he is “never going to be able to get that bill”.
Considering they endorsed a campaign about equality not long ago, it seems awfully hypocritical that they have an ad saying that men should be footing the bill on a date. But don’t stop there…..go into to debt just to do it.
I’m kind of concerned with the tone of the ad, too. St George wants us to know their customer base is the kind who’ll ditch a restaurant and leave their date to pay. There doesn’t appear to be a moral message of “you shouldn’t do that” in there. It’s really more of a “you don’t HAVE to do that” message, but without any recrimination for his caddish and, arguably, illegal behaviour.
Really! It’s an add about banking, not an add about running out on your date. The comment is another example of Australians becoming politically correct.
Who is the girl in this ad? She looks like the girl from The Wonder Years
It’s Olivia from home and away or her twin
