2DayFM tells Facebook fans to move over if they want Kyle and Jackie

Sydney station 2DayFM has told its fans of its Facebook page if they want to see Kyle and Jackie O they should move over to their new Facebook page with Kiis 1065, and posted a link to it on the social network.

The move to distance the Southern Cross Austereo network station from its former top-rating breakfast show comes in the midst of a legal stoush with Kyle and Jackie O and the Australian Radio Network over who owns the rights to the Facebook fan page they held when with the Today Network.

The 2DayFM page had also been subjected to a barrage of negative commentary from users about the move, with some accusing moderators of deleting comments which mention other radio stations, which the station has denied on the site.

2DayFM Kyle and Jackie postAlthough the Kyle and Jackie O Facebook page was in their name, it was managed by the 2DayFM social media team who are fighting to retain it. A spokeswoman for Southern Cross Austereo declined to comment on the matter to Mumbrella today.

The new Kyle and Jackie O page set up by ARN states it is “the OFFICIAL page for the Kyle and Jackie O Show” and has attracted 37,979 “likes” from fans since launching ahead of the first breakfast show on Kiis this week.

Since going live the social media team has told its followers Kyle and Jackie O’s old page had been “hijacked” by 2Day FM and the pair’s former network were “trying to sneakily change the name of the old Facebook page to their new breakfast show without you knowing.”
