Aldi returns to TV screens with ‘smarter shopping’ campaign
Low-cost supermarket chain Aldi has returned to TV screens after 18 months away with a campaign to push its ‘smarter shopping’ positioning.
The campaign, which will also run at point of sale and in Aldi’s catalogue, aims to show Australians how they can trim their shopping budgets by shopping at Aldi regularly.
Jun Harada, creative director at the ad’s maker, BMF, said: “The campaign tells a simple story about how shopping at Aldi can help enrich your life. The Aldi family are shopping smarter and are using the savings to improve their house, while their next-door neighbours wonder what theyʼre doing wrong”.

Hmmm. A bit too similar to the wonderful ad from VW – Keeping up with the Kremplars. Only not as wonderful.

That said anyone giving Coles and Woolies a run for their money has my vote. On another note, any news re the opening of the Costco Sydney opening?

Am I missing something? I am trying to work out what is going on – are they spending their extra money on more groceries? Why are the neighbours so shocked? At seeing someone unloading a car full of supermarket products? Maybe it’s just me but this fails!

Plastic bags? Really?

They’ve spent it on a white outdoor setting, see the second return home with the groceries.

Cheerful and fun, reinforcing what everyone knows; Aldi is good value. My husband loves the moment with the neighbours dripping hose. I think the music is the hook. I can hear it in any room in the house, a jingle with no words that tells the message.
