As a Dutch ad girl living in Australia, I can tell you that this ad has a good shot at being very successful in Holland. Yes it’s long, yes, it’s extremely daggy and likely cringe worthy to anyone not familiar with the culture. However, Holland is living and breathing soccer at the moment and this ad combines a few Dutch success factors:
– Little orange things to collect (god knows why, but the Dutch love them)
– Our Dutch soccer heroes
– Holland’s most popular singers
My guess is that the Dutch won’t even notice the lack of concept and that everyone is singing this song before we have even shot our first goal.
