Karen Halligan departs Bohemia after just six months for SCA role

Karen HalliganBohemia head of implementation and investment Karen Halligan is departing after just six months to take on the newly created role of national commercial and operations director at Southern Cross Austereo.

Halligan joined Bohemia in April following four years as the general manager of Slingshot Media. Bohemia CEO Brett Dawson will assume the role of head of investment while they assess the needs for the role, as the independent agency undergoes significant change and expansion after winning several substantial pieces of business including Vodafone and Lion.

Southern Cross Austereo national sales director Andrea Ingham said: “Karen’s experience working with clients from a media agency and marketing perspective will add an extra dimension to the way we approach the market and clients.  We are thrilled to add someone of Karen’s caliber to the Management team and very much look forward to her contribution into our strategy and direction moving forward.”

On her appointment she said: “I am truly excited to join Southern Cross Austereo, one of Australia’s most progressive and far reaching national media organisations.  The opportunity to work across SCA’s broad range of TV, Radio, Talent and Digital Assets does not come along very often and was too good to pass up. Taking the role of National Commercial and Operations Director means that I can really leverage the leadership experience I have gained through previous client and agency roles and close the loop on the last frontier of Media Owner, I can’t wait to get started.”

Prior to Slingshot Media, Halligan was was with Mediacom as the group business director for six years. Halligan has departed just before the end of her six month probation at Bohemia, with Dawson wishing her every success in a note to clients sent earlier this week.

On taking on the role Dawson noted: “I will do so in the shorter term while we re-asses the market and our needs particularly in the space of senior relationship management and data driven decision decision making enabled by technology. Our clients are all aware and very comfortable with this.”

Working underneath Dawson are three investment directors Michael Selden, Maya Richardson and Jodie Fraser.

Halligan will be based in Sydney and commence the role on November 24.
