Kia rolls out Super Bowl spot starring Pierce Brosnan locally

Kia has rolled out its Super Bowl campaign featuring Pierce Brosnan locally.

Launched during this year’s Super Bowl game, the spot, which is promoting the Kia Sorento, sees the former James Bond star being briefed on his role for the ad.

While Brosnan assumes it will be standard action-movie fare, the agency continues to lower his expectations, pitching him an ad which will see him driving a car through the mountains like any normal person.

It was made by US agency David & Goliath.

In Feburary Mumbrella live blogged the ads of the super bowl. On the Kia spot Carl Ratcliff, then Naked Communications CEO and now One Grean Bean CEO, said: “Piers Brosnan playing Bond playing Piers Brosnan. Another self referencing spot. One that pulses with an almost original wisdom: ‘We know car ads are dull, so we are going to make the opposite of dull. But still keep the dull bits in. Everyone’s a winner. Hurrah.’ Next.”

The Hallway’s Simon Lee said: “And this is a really nice car ad. Has the scale and production values of a big Superbowl ad whilst knowingly mocking big Superbowl ads, all within a stunningly aspirational setting and with nice performances from Brosnan and his agent. “The perfect getaway vehicle” is a platform any creative would love to have the chance to execute off.”
