Gogglebox sees audience grow by a third as Masterchef takes comfortable Thursday win
Thursday night saw Ten's reality cooking show Masterchef continuing to pull over 1m metro viewers, a result which helped boost Gogglebox which was up 180,000 viewers on last week.
Thursday night saw Ten’s reality cooking show Masterchef continuing to pull over 1m metro viewers, a result which helped boost Gogglebox which was up 180,000 viewers on last week.
Gogglebox last night managed a solid 728,000, well up on last week when it had only 548,000 viewers.
Meanwhile Masterchef’s first elimination was the only non-news TV show to pull over 1m viewers last night on a quiet night for TV viewing.
Home and Away pulled 791,000 viewers at 7pm while the 8.30pm timeslot was won by Gogglebox with ABC drama Janet King drawing 663,000.
Nine’s highest rating non-news program was RBT at 7.30 which had 606,000.
In the news race Nine was the 6pm and 6.30pm bulletins with 1.046m and 1.013m to 1.037m and 1.006m respectively for Seven.
In main channel audience share Nine managed to narrowly win the night with 18.5% followed by Ten on 18.2%, while Seven had 17.1% and the ABC 12.4%.
I don’t get it.
Why do the other channels let 10 show large segments of their top shows? It’s piracy, isn’t it? The shows either end up promoted or trashed. There’s something seriously wrong going on here, isn’t there?

But it doesn’t change the fact that last night we were on channel 10 watching 7’s My Kitchen Rules, and watching the people on the couches totally caught up in it. It was a massive ad for 7. What are 10 thinking?
