Gogglebox falls on second outing for Ten while State of Affairs makes soft start for Seven
Gogglebox fell on its second outing on Ten last night dropping from 495,000 viewers for its debut last week to 438,000, finishing third in its timeslot.
Thursday night was again dominated by Seven’s reality cooking contest My Kitchen Rules which topped the ratings with 1.373m viewers, easily outrating Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here (608,000) which was simulcast on One and Nine’s spin off from The Block Open House (664,000) in the 7.30pm slot.
The debut of Seven’s new US political drama State of Affairs in the 9pm slot got just 566,000 viewers, but that was enough to beat Nine’s Inside Story which ran from 8.30pm -9.30pm which had 517,000, Gogglebox on Ten and ABC drama Hiding which had 429,000 viewers. State of Affairs debuted in the US in November.

MKR also won the biggest audience share across all demographics, while I’m a Celebrity came second in the 25-54 age group category. However the audience share across metro markets was slightly down from last week’s 1.49 million viewers.
Nine News followed MKR in the number two spot with 1.62 million viewers for the night at 6pm, Nine News 6.30pm was third with 1.024 million, Seven News at 6pm fourth with 972,000, and in fifth place was Seven News/Today Tonight with 971,000 viewers. Drama Home and Away placed seventh for the night in the 7pm time slot with 838,000 and A Current Affair was eighth with 822,000 at the same time.
The second half of Ten’s The Project which ran from 7pm gave a weak lead in for I’m a Celebrity of just 461,000 viewers. The ABC’s 7.30 Report rounded out the top ten with 655,000 viewers.

I don’t know anyone under the age of 50 who actually watches any of these shows!
I’d be interested to see the demographics of these ratings.

GoggleBox is rubbish television. Make some decent content and people will watch.

All the hype surrounding Googlebox has failed to translate into a ratings winner. Who really wants to watch what a couple of bogans in their loungeroom do or say anyway? Programmers must have a low opinion of their demographic.

I see this site is suffering from an MKR obsession like the rest of the country

Love it or hate it – Australia has come late to the Gogglebox franchise. The original show is popular in the UK and has won a BAFTA. The international rights have also been sold to China, Ireland, Italy, Poland and Ukraine. There are also US and Canadian versions, both called The People’s Couch. So I guess programmers worldwide think the show has real appeal in their respective countries.

The fact that Gogglebox is seen worldwide simply confirms that Bogans aren’t confined to Oz – it is sad so sad that anyone watches this CR** let alone 400,000+ sad Australians

What is going on at Channel 10? Seems like someone is hell bent on putting the station out of business. With shows like Gogglebox and I’m a Celebrity it is no wonder their ratings are down the toilet.
