BMF’s media director Paddy Douneen departs
Paddy Douneen, the media director at BMF, has left the agency to start up his own consultancy.
Photon, BMF’s owner, told Mumbrella that Douneen’s departure would not impact the agency’s ambitions to create a full service media department.
Matt Melhuish, Photon’s head of Australian agencies, said: “Paddy leaving BMF is his decision, and we wish him well. We’re still exploring exciting media ventures. Watch this space.”
BMF’s media operation will be run by head of planning Gareth Cooper and planner Marie Agudera, with whom Douneen worked closely as “the holy trinity for all things channel and media”.
The strategist calls time on a year and 9 months at BMF, where he was hired to spearhead the agency’s plans to build a media operation. During his time at BMF Douneen worked on 22 pitches, a highlight being the successful pitch for NineMSN and Bing.
Douneen’s new venture is called Fluidity. “This is not just a business plan. It’s a lifestyle philosophy. I want the flexibility to work with whom ever I want, when I want and where I want,” he said.
The consultancy will offer “everything I’m good at” – marketing strategy, mentoring, conference speaking, writing, property investment and organising golf days, Douneen said.
Fluidity already has two clients, one being 2C Solar Light Cap, a company that makes illuminated caps powered by solar.
