Sydney and Melbourne gear up for tonight’s Twestival

Tonight sees Sydney and Melbourne’s social media communities come together for a real life charity fundraiser.

Sydney Twestival takes place at the Australian Centre for Photography on Oxford Street in Paddington. Twestival is taking place simultaneously in cities around the world as a fundraiser for anti-poverty charity Concern Worldwide.  

Sydney Twestival co-organiser Tim Dickinson said: “Organising online and gathering offline allows Twestival to harness the incredible communication power of Twitter to propel participation in real events around the world.”

Melbourne is also holding a Twestival event at Oddfellows Hotel at  Little Lonsdale Street.

Visitors to Sydney Twestival will will enjoy live DJ performances, graffiti artists and other entertainers. Attendees will live-tweet the event and connect with other Twestival partygoers via screens setup at each event (hashtag: #twestival).

Crust Pizza, which has been gearing up its social media activity including on Twitter is providing food for the event.

Tickets are $25 on the door, which opens at 7.30pm.

The event is being MC’d by BMF’s outgoing digital strategist Damien Damjanov (@damjanov) who will be auctioning off a piece of art created live by UK graffiti artist N4t4 and raffling off MCA memberships.

Other sponsors include UBank, Aussie and Brasserie Bread.
