Westfield celebrates the boy who gives everything in Christmas campaign
With two months to go until Christmas, Westfield has unveiled a Christmas campaign celebrating the life of a boy called Nick who grows up giving away everything he owns.
The commercial, created by Moon Communications Group and directed by Paola Morabito through Exit films, tells the story of a young boy with a generous heart.

Westfield marketing director, John Batistich said:” Ultimately the joy of Christmas is in giving and we wanted to celebrate the thoughtfulness and emotion behind every act of giving this festive season.”
The commercial will make its national TV debut on Monday night during the final of The X Factor on Channel 7.
A national social media campaign harnessing the hashtag #happygiving aims to raise awareness for Westfield’s charity partners, and also give shoppers the chance to nominate the ‘happy giver’ in their lives.

I felt really deflated by this. Maybe it was the title you added “Westfield celebrates the boy who gives everything in Christmas campaign”. It set me up to believe a retailer was recognising the true message of Christmas. That it’s not about gifts, it’s about so much more. Human spirit maybe. Relationships, friendships, altruism. But no, just another ad designed to make us buy stuff at Christmas. *Sigh*. That said, appreciate the scope and production, just not the ‘spirit’.

Really hate that on two levels so far.
– Rewriting the origin of a saint
– Doing so not to promote giving but to promote buying from one outlet.
They’ll cop it from the church if they run that.

Love. At last a retailer steering away from the obvious retail execution. Bravo Moon

Very nice. Love the copy, the visual, and the background music. Very touching. Kind of like Mastercard’s Priceless angle but more gentle and heart touching.

nice work. The quirky casting & VO draw you in and make you want to find out what’s going on.
The reveal is nice and it’ll stand out a mile among the usual xmas retail ads

I don’t get it, another big retail group trying to bring a warm fuzzy feeling to disguise the fact that all they want during Christmas is your money!
