Australian film follows audience demand strategy
The independent comedy The Makeover is asking people to ‘demand’ a screening of the film in their cities, similar to the strategy followed by Paramount for Paranormal Activity in the US.
There are currently 10 people demanding the film – which the website says has a world release of July 1, 2010 – in six locations.
Using the services of Eventful, the ‘Demand It!’ function asks participants to spread the word by tweeting it, sharing it on Facebook, getting a widget or simply emailing it.
Written and directed by Colm O’Murchu, The Makeover will also screen at the Cannes Independent Film Festival, which takes place alongside the major Cannes Film Festival next month.
