Budget Direct owned Chasing Cars dabbles in generative AI with Q&A chatbot

A second Australian publisher has dabbled in generative AI technology with car review platform Chasing Cars unveiling its ChatGPT integration.

Earlier this month, men’s lifestyle publisher Man of Many launched its own ChatGPT plugin to engage with readers through interacting with the site’s content library of 11,000 articles via conversational prompts.

ChasingCarsGPT works similarly, with the OpenAI-developed technology indexing the Chasing Cars library of articles, reviews and videos to provide answers to prompts typed in by readers. Some example prompts could include, “What should I consider when choosing a small SUV for under $50K in 2023?” or “I’m considering buying a new Hyundai Santa Fe, how would you rate the Petrol vs Diesel vs Hybrid versions?”.

The tool also aims to drive web traffic by providing clickable links to the site as part of the answers to the prompts.

Chasing Cars said the integration is purpose-built to cater specifically to automotive enthusiasts and new car buyers, using ChasingCarsGPT’s understanding of the Australian new car market to provide targeted and relevant information on various car makes, models, features and more.

ChasingCarsGPT is still in beta at the time of writing, with the publisher encouraging readers to explore the tool, try out its capabilities and provide feedback.

Chasing Cars, owned by insurer Auto & General via it’s Budget Direct Brand, covers the Australian new car market across its website and its YouTube channel of 155,000 subscribers.
