ButterBoy launches Brookvale store with cheeky guerilla cookie stunt

Cult cookie brand ButterBoy has issued fake fines and free cookies to raise awareness about the opening of its new Brookvale store.

The announcement:

Cult cookie brand ButterBoy has taken a hyperlocal guerilla approach to launch its new Brookvale store, with hundreds of official-looking “Cookie Notices” placed on cars across the Northern Beaches this week.

Designed to mimic a parking fine, each notice accused drivers of being “caught in possession of dangerously irresistible cookie cravings” and offered one free cookie to be redeemed at the new location on Friday 30 May. It’s a classic ButterBoy stunt, irreverent, grassroots, and designed to get people talking.

The campaign marks the opening of ButterBoy’s fourth store and its new production HQ, expanding the brand’s cult following beyond Manly, Broadway and Chatswood. With no paid media or influencer spend, the activation relied purely on strategic placement, physical creative, and community intrigue to build momentum.

It’s a timely reminder that even in a digital-first landscape, a well-executed offline stunt can still cut through.
