Compare the Market’s meerkats want Aussies to take another look at household budgets

Financial comparison website, Compare the Market, has brought back its long-standing meerkat characters, Aleksandr and Sergei.

In the latest campaign, ‘Meerkat Motivationals’ the duo called for Australians to take another look at their household budget. The campaign is due to launch this Sunday across TV, BVOD, audio, OOH and digital display.

In the 30-second spots, Aleksandr and Sergei helped ‘Double Standards Stacey’ and ‘Go Joe’ to realise how they’ve neglected renewal notices for their health insurance, car insurance, home and contents insurance as well as energy bills.

Compare the Market’s executive general manager of marketing, Andrew Holt, said: “This year is already proving to be another stressful year for Australians, with price increases across every major household expense, including energy bills, mortgage repayments and insurance premiums.

“There’s never been a more important time for Australians to compare what they pay for these everyday household bills against what’s available on the market. We don’t want to see Aussies waste another dollar, especially while there’s unprecedented pressure on the hip pocket.

“As Aleksandr and Sergei would say, we should all ‘wake up to waste’, ‘keep an eye on the rises’ and make sure ‘not another cent is misspent’.”

Compared the Market was reviewing the Aleksandr and Sergei brand platform in March 2022 after the war broke out in Ukraine, due to its use of Russian meerkats.

Compare the Market Australia told Mumbrella at the time: “Like the rest of the world, we are shocked by the events in Ukraine.

“The meerkat characters are entirely fictional and have been used by the company since its inception in 2012. They obviously have no connection to the current situation.
