What is a Media Director?

The core purpose of this position:
To inspire and facilitate the development, execution, promotion and distribution of extraordinary work that delivers demonstrable client and Bohemia results by leading and nurturing a high performing team of Bohemians.
Reporting Lines:
Reports to: Head of Media & Investment
Direct reports: Media Managers

Responsibilities:
As a Media Director at Bohemia you are accountable for delivering exceptional output of your teams work to the specific client accounts that sit under your remit.

At this stage, you are moving from a manager to a leader and your mindset requires a shift to inspire, motivate and train others to realise their full potential and deliver excellent client outcomes that also deliver Bohemia fiscal benefits.

Knowledge/Skills
• 8+ years’ experience in media strategy, planning, buying, account management
• Solid budget management expertise
• Strong relationships with clients and external media
• A sound understanding of data management, content creation, CRM, PR, social, and performance
• Proven record in effective and positive team management
• Intimate knowledge of the Australian media landscape including digital
• The ability to lead and motivate staff
• A thought leader across all disciplines
• Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and an understanding of BCC, Nielsen, Asteroid
• Proven experience and success in delivering New Business

Accountabilities
• Adherence to the UNITY Process (Bohemia’s end to end media process process)
• Key owner of the brands/clients in your remit. The buck stops with you and work does not leave the agency unless at th e highest standard
• Own the quality of the media teams output
• To be the second arm of each client business, to understand how their marketing and business operates, what drives success that delivers on business KPI’s
• Staff & Team management including hiring, personal development and plan generation and conducting reviews
• Lead communications planning and investment for clients, working alongside strategy team and investment head
• Effective engagement of specialist divisions of strategy, data, research, content, social, P&T, customer engagement and CRM
• Take part and drive effective and efficient client media negotiations (with Chief Media & Investment Officer)
• Deliver outstanding client service at all times through measured client satisfaction surveys
• Team and broader agency communication of inspiring work / work practices
• Educate and push clients to drive innovation, growth and best practice within communications activities
• To source the new and challenge the status quo – producing (with Strategy) clear vertical trends and consumer trends that shape our communications planning approach
• Team growth, progression and learning
• Team happiness, motivation and harmony
• Ensuring the Media Managers are effectively managing the Executives and Co-ordinators

Contribute
• Employee engagement and satisfaction within your team and within the wider agency

• Pipeline development and new business success
• Generate a pool of awards that can showcase great best practice for the agency
• Contribute to the teams commercials to exceed a set business plan including revenue management and selling SBU / out of scope services
• Contribute to the broader agency culture and progression
• Financial contribution to Limit Debtors and recover all client invoices in a timely manner

Relationships
• Build trust and rapport with your clients that delivers a fruitful working relationship based on proven performance and results
• Be the person people bring the gold to first because they like, respect you and know you can make it better for everyone involved
• Develop and nurture strong relationship with senior media owners
• Lead, mentor and guide the Business Managers and develop their leadership skills
• Foster fruitful and complimentary working relationships with all other Bohemians.
• Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with all related agency partners
• Drive team morale, and build a fun, enjoyable environment amongst a motivated, skilled team

What Does Remarkable Look Like
• Positive results on client scoring and feedback
• Delivering clients new growth and showcasing it (campaign awards if possible but client objectives are priority)
• Low team churn rate
• Positive Media-i Results on feedback around briefing, transparency and responsiveness
• Achieving all client plan objectives – reach and value
• Achieving all client KPI objectives – sales/leads/awareness, service and reporting
• Well trained and effective Media Managers and team
• Reporting on time, in template and selling the great work
