Senior Experiential Producer

ABOUT TABOO
From the earliest age, we’re taught to follow bad rules. Colour inside the lines, act your age, don’t be weird… The marketing world is full of bad rules too. Pointless processes, outdated customs, limiting conventions… But TABOO was born from the streets, not the marketing world. We began by breaking the rules that didn’t serve us, or our clients, then reimagined the rest. And that’s what sets us apart. Our work was different, because our approach was different. It was unexpected, so people took notice. Culture cared about it, and our clients cared about that. So we’ve kept on perfecting the art of rule breaking ever since.
24 years in, and we’re still proving that doing it wrong is the only way to get it right. We’re an independent collective of rule-breakers, risk-takers, and cultural shapers—and we’re looking for someone who speaks our language.

THE ROLE
TABOO is on the hunt for a Senior Experiential Producer who can bring bold, ambitious ideas to life with their eyes closed. And a smile on their face. If you love to “make shit happen”, more specifically “happen on time, on budget and with creative sprinkles on top,” then yep, we’ll definitely get on.
You’ll be steering a portfolio of highly creative experiential projects—from small activations to large-scale events, including playing a key part in activating at a major global sporting event – if we told you where, we’d have to kill you, but we’re sure you can read between the (painted white) lines. You’ll work closely with the creative and design team to turn big ideas into seamless executions, owning production from start to finish.
As well as buttoning down budgets, you’ll be locking in suppliers – sourcing the best and boldest, handling logistics, and ensuring every activation sings. You’ll be across every detail— from helping the creatives shape concepts from inception, massaging them to be on budget, while always inspiring on what’s possible. We love to hear about all the “cool shit” you’ve seen out there that’s making your heart beat faster. Keeping clients along for the (joy)ride at all times..
You’ll be a great leader—mentoring junior producers as the team evolves, guiding them through the wild world of production, and helping them grow. TABOO thrives on collaboration; so you’ll work closely with our creative, design, and account teams, ensuring production elevates every idea. And when things don’t go to plan? – you’ll be the calming presence in the team – if that involves recounting the story about “that one gnarly time at an event in Columbia…” then we love to hear it.
This year, your focus will be on delivering a milestone project at a major global sporting event. If you love high-energy environments and live for summer sport, this is so your bag. Next year? – well as an agency who regularly gets calls from new clients that begin: “Hello…we want something taboo….” you can only imagine what fun lies ahead.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
-Lead medium to large-scale experiential projects across a variety of lovely clients.
-Own end-to-end production—from pre-production planning through to live execution and post-event wrap-ups.
-Manage budgets like a ninja—ensuring jobs are delivered on budget and at the right profit margins. Kim, our Head of Finance will love you for it.
-Prepare flawless documentation—including production schedules, budgets, briefing docs, meeting agendas, presentation decks, and project updates.
-Handle all onsite logistics—from run sheets and call sheets to risk assessments and supplier schedules.
-Lead and foster client relationships, keeping them informed and happy, ensuring their expectations are exceeded at every stage. Our relationships are everything.
-Work side-by-side with creatives, designers, and suppliers, ensuring every execution is pushed to be the best it can be.
-Vet all creative concepts during the pitch process, ensuring feasibility, affordability, and smooth execution.
-Lead and mentor junior team members, shaping the future of our production department.
-Oversee multiple projects at once, keeping everything on track, on time, and on budget.
-Report to the Head of Experiential of overall project status and any key concerns.

WHO YOU ARE
-7-55 years agency/event production experience (client-facing).
-A creative problem-solver who thrives on making the impossible happen. They don’t call you ‘The Wizard’ for nothing.
-A logistics master—scheduling, budgeting, and supplier wrangling are a doddle.
-Experience in design & construction for events—working with build suppliers, engineers, and production teams.
-Can confidently lead live events onsite including managing all suppliers during bump in, live event and bump out.
-Comfortable managing both suppliers and junior team members.
-Sharp financial skills—you know how to build and manage budgets that work.
-A multi-tasker who can juggle multiple projects at once without missing a beat.
-Detail-obsessed—nothing gets past your beady eyes.
-A strong network of suppliers and production contacts in Melbourne (bonus points for Sydney. Double bonus points for global).
-Happy to roll up your sleeves—TABOO is a small, fast-moving team, and everyone happily pitches in.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
-We’re a B Corp, meaning we do business as a force for good—not just for the planet, but for humans. Making a positive social impact runs through our core, with inclusion, equal opportunities and full transparency on all our practices.
-We value diversity—different perspectives make our work infinitely better. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
-No arsehole policy is a given. We simply ask for exemplary humans who bring good energy. If you love and are thriving in your current toxic workplace then probably best you don’t apply.
