Kite Communications appointed as No 1 Lounges’ Australian comms agency

Kite Communications, Sefiani’s consumer and digital agency, has been appointed as No 1 Lounges’ lead agency in Australia, following a competitive pitch process.

No 1 Lounges is a UK-based premium airport lounge operator, which has launched lounges in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne International Airports over the last 12 months. It gives access to airport lounge experiences to both business and leisure travellers on a pay-to-enter model.

Kite was appointed following a competitive pitch process.

Nicole Schulz, general manager at Kite, said: “Kite has extensive experience in travel and tourism and a proven track record establishing brands in new categories. No 1 Lounges’ proposition to enable travellers to eat, drink and relax in style before they fly is a compelling opportunity for Australians and we look forward to helping them raise awareness of this offering.”

Schulz became general manager in June, taking over from Lori Susko who moved to 303 Mullen Lowe.

Recently appointed creative director, Nicole Thurston, added: “We were really inspired by the brief from No 1 Lounges and the opportunity to present a holistic communications strategy to deliver insight-driven, creative ideas that will engage audiences through owned and earned channels, as well as commercial partnerships, to establish the category locally.”

John Upton, No 1 Lounges chief executive officer, said: “We were looking for a one-stop-shop in Australia and found it in Kite. We were impressed with the strategy and creative presented by Nicole Schulz and Nicole Thurston at Kite and are looking forward to their ideas coming to life.

“We’re delighted to have introduced our innovative pay-per-use lounge concepts to Australia and to be transforming the airport lounge category, by bringing a five-star experience at great value to all travellers. With Kite’s demonstrated experience driving awareness and online bookings we can democratise lounges and provide the best pre-flight experience for everyone.”
