LiSTNR and Law Society of NSW launch second season of podcast

LiSTNR has launched season two of Lawfully Explained, a podcast by the Law Society of NSW.

The announcement:

The Law Society of NSW and LiSTNR today launch season two of Lawfully Explained, after a successful debut as listeners embrace having complex legal themes and language broken down to be easily understandable. It’s a podcast about legal stuff – for the rest of us.

The second season of the podcast series features a range of legal experts talking about everyday legal issues in a straightforward, easy to understand format. Episode topics include ‘Should I use ChatGPT for legal advice?’, ‘My friend wants my help to have a baby – should I say yes?’, ‘How can the law support the transgender community?’, ‘My friend is in a violent relationship, how can I help?’, plus the legal rights of tenants.

Guests will include Grant Arbuthnot, principal solicitor at the Tenants Union; Katie Green, managing principal at the Inner City Legal Centre; and Simon Burns, partner at Gilbert+Tobin, and expert in cyber security, tech and data privacy.

Lawfully Explained helps bridge the gap between the public and solicitors and importantly helps them to understand what to expect when they talk to a lawyer. The podcast also points listeners to a website, lawfullyexplained.com.au, and a useful tool where people can search for a lawyer in their area.

President of the Law Society of NSW, Cassandra Banks, said: “Lawfully Explained plays a crucial role in giving the community useful information about common legal problems and questions that can confront people during their lives.

“Lawfully Explained is so successful because it engages listeners who are curious about the way the law works and can affect them as they navigate common, but potentially complex legal issues. These include preparing a will, dealing with legal trouble overseas, and whether ChatGPT can provide reliable legal advice. Spoiler alert – it can’t.

“Getting the right advice from a lawyer shouldn’t be complicated and this second series of Lawfully Explained will go a long way towards helping people facing legal issues to look for advice in the right places.”

LiSTNR senior executive producer ‑ branded podcasts, Todd Stevens, “We are thrilled to be returning with a second season of this podcast. Season one has helped so many people by simplifying legal issues that they really could encounter, and these new episodes continue to deliver on that promise of explaining the law.

“There is something for everyone in this season. If you have ever been a tenant with a landlord that you think might be crossing the line, considered surrogacy and wondered what your rights would be, or maybe you have had someone pass away without leaving behind a will, these episodes will answer all of the questions that you have – without any of the legal jargon.”

The Lawfully Explained season two podcast launches today on LiSTNR, with episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.
