Lovehoney celebrates National Orgasm Day with innuendo-filled ad

Lovehoney Australia is celebrating National Orgasm Day, which is today, by launching a campaign filled with sexual innuendos including eggplants and hotdogs.

The 30-second commercial features blow-up balloons, a vibrating phone, a cucumber, hotdogs, peaches, bunnies, eggplant, fly swatters and hair gel.

“At Lovehoney we go the extra inch to help you find the right buzzy things, fuzzy things, kinky, super sexy and slinky things, so whatever gets you off, get it online,” the voiceover says.

Created by UK agency Brave, the ad will run on TV Hits (Foxtel channel 101) tonight at 10pm.

Helen Balmer, Lovehoney brand and marketing director, said in a statement: “The feedback in the UK on our advertising campaign has been overwhelming. People said that they found the TV ad exciting, humorous and with an added dose of playful – the perfect combination to spread our sexual happiness message.

“It’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face!  Our research tells us that the TV ad has been the first port of call to open up the conversation around sex toys with a partner. We really hope our customers in Australia enjoy seeing Lovehoney on TV.”

Lovehoney cited a Forbes article, which suggests the global sex toy market is estimated to be worth AUD$19 billion, and Lovehoney estimates “the sexual happiness market in Australia alone is around AUD $250 million”.

Lovehoney claims the campaign makes it “the only sex toy retailer to advertise on mainstream television”.
