McDonald’s biggest podcast advertiser in Australia

McDonald’s is the biggest advertiser on Australian podcasts according to new research revealed by iHeart and Magellan AI.

The Top Advertisers report analysed thousands of episodes from over 400 of Australia’s most popular podcasts over the first quarter of the year.

The fast food giant was the biggest spender, ahead of Youi Insurance, and Wise. The largest year-on-year increases in advertising spend were in the genres of comedy, health and fitness, and science.

“Podcast advertising continues to thrive with a huge breadth of brands seen across the Australian industry,” said Corey Layton, ARN’s head of digital audio.

“Given the depth of content, measurement and proven conversion, podcasts are no longer an experimental part of the marketing mix.”

Other big spenders include accounting software firm MYOB, CommBank, and Telstra.
