The Block posts more gains as The Checkout wins strongest audience yet this series

The Block posted another record audience for a Thursday night with 1.434m metro viewers marking a 313,000 gain on last week, while So You Think You Can Dance averaged 333,000 for Channel Ten.

While The Block was the top program of the night ABC1 was second in the timeslot as The Checkout posted its strongest audience of the series so far with 823,000, and legal drama Janet King also posted gains with 772,000 watching from 8.30pm, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.

Ten marked a small gain for its shiny floor show as it increased its metro audience from 317,000 last week, however it has seen little lift in the ratings since the show was moved from Sundays to Thursday nights and has not yet outrated its debut of 466,000.

Seven’s AFL football on in Melbourne and Adelaide from 7.30pm averaged 488,000 in those two cities, as Border Security had 522,000 in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth and Bones followed with 397,000 in those three cities.

The Footy Show followed The Block on Nine with 364,000 in Sydney and Brisbane as The Block Unlocked had 468,000 elsewhere.

Nine News was strongest in the evening news hour with 1.16m for the first half hour and 1.067m for the second as Seven News averaged 983,000 from 6pm and 909,000 for Seven News on the east coast and Today Tonight elsewhere.

Sunrise on Seven had the biggest audience at breakfast with 373,000 as Today had 336,000 on Channel Nine.

Nine won the night with a 23.9 per cent audience share as Seven had 21 per cent. Ten was fourth with a 9.9 per cent audience share.
