Complaints against Essential Beauty ‘Hairy tales’ ad dismissed by ASB
Complaints made about an ad for Essential Beauty which makes references to heavily foliated female genitalia have been dismissed by the Advertising Standards Bureau.
The ad, titled ‘Hairy tales’, features a character named Mary Huff, who seeks the services of Essential Beauty to remedy her problem. They come to her aid by “faxing her wanny”.
One of the complaints from the public read: “The ad said men will not “go down” on women if they have excess vaginal hair. It also spoke of ‘hairy fannies’. I was disgusted – how can these ads get on TV?”
Shame on you!
Salad says that this is an excellent public service campaign designed to banish the inverted mohican.
In the interests of gender balance (an issue dear to your Cap’n Salad’s heart), a companion campaign for back, crack and sac deforestation would be just the ticket.

Hear hear Salad… and for those that complained, perhaps a massage to relax the (newly hooth and smairless) crack.
I thought it was highly entertaining and congratulate the client on having the balls to get it out there.

There is a Neutrogena product in market called “Deep Action Shower Facial”. I would have thought that is a little more sexually overt than this and yet 12 year olds love it

I like the companion campaign idea Cap’n. Maybe the spokesperson could be that famous model-around-town …. Annalise Backcrackensackwax.
