Return of NCIS pulls 1m and Charlie’s Angels fail to fly

Ten welcomed the return of NCIS last night attracting just over 1 million viewers, a rare pull for the network over the last month.

With the exception of the launch of the second series of Junior Masterchef, Ten shows have recently failed to crack the 1 million mark.

The network will be hoping for a lift in ratings when the Spielberg-directed sci-fi series Terra Nova debuts on Sunday.

Over on Nine, the second episode of Two and a Half Men featuring Ashton Kutcher received 1.252 million, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam. The debut episode featuring the new character last week received 2.293 million.

At 7:30, the debut of Nine’s heavily-promoted new show Charlie’s Angels fell short with 815,000. It was beaten, along with Two and a Half Men at 8:30 and Joy of Sets at 9pm, by a two-hour episode of The X Factor on Seven which won the night with 1.41 million.

Despite following a relatively strong audience from Two and a Half Men, Joy of Sets fell back dramatically from its debut audience of 1.165 million to 545,000.
