Twitter continues to hire for Australian operation

Social media platform Twitter is to expand its Australian presence with the company advertising for an account executive and an account manager, based in Sydney.

The move is the first confirmation that the company will base itself in Sydney and comes after speculation that Twitter could choose Melbourne over its northern counterpart.

TwitterTwitter’s move to hire an Australian sales team comes two months after the company announced its first Australian hire, former AFL social media strategist, Jonathan Simpson who is managing partnerships between major sporting codes and the social media platform.

According to the job advertisements, both positions will report to Twitter’s regional sales manager and will be focused on helping the company grow its advertising revenue through relationships with major Australian brands and their marketing agencies.

The advertisement for the account executive explains that the successful applicant would need to develop: “consultative sales presentations to demonstrate how Twitter’s advertising products can be leveraged to connect with consumers” and would also “help advertisers build and execute effective campaigns, measure results, and renew / up-sell to drive revenue growth”.

Twitter has also signalled that it has further plans to expand its Australian operations with the successful applicant for the account executive role also being required to: “(mentor) new team members as our organization grows.”

In a recent interview with Mumbrella Adam Sharp Twitter’s head of government, news and social innovation said the company expected the upcoming election would likely be a significant driver of growth for the social media platform in Australia.
