Why you shouldn’t drink and write

Now Dr Mumbo is no angel when it comes to avoiding typos in copy.

But it’s just unfortunate when the typo brings a whole new, unintended meaning to what’s been written.

In this job ad for Foster’s, Dr Mumbo is guessing the drinks company is in fact not looking for a brand manager “to work for Australia’s biggest alcoholic…”.

  4. Sad. Foster’s used to have in place a strict policy here: ‘alcohol brands’ never ‘alcoholic brands’. Well .. never ‘alcoholic’ anything really. Probably the usual HR ignoring PR.

  6. Working with fellow alcoholics seems like too much hard work, even though I will have the full support of colleagues, a free-bar up stairs in the office & plenty of cash to spend

  8. Pssh, beat things up out of context much?

Reading the same ad – with out of context quoting – you might also get the impression the job is for an Operations Manager as you can “manage one of Carlton & United Breweries”.

    C’mon Dr Mumbo……
