The Delicatessen creates unique menu experience with #menustories
Sydney-based boutique content agency The Delicatessen is using Instagram’s video platform to add a digital element to restaurant menu’s with its #menustories.
The new menu experience plays on consumer’s love of food photography and provides a snapshot look at the creation of a dish and the history of ingredients prior to ordering.
Sydney’s French Basque bistor Le Pelican is the first restaurant to use #menustories and has launched five on its Instagram page @lepelicansydney including some of its most favoured and famous dishes: Les Huitres (Oysters), La Saint Jacques (Scallops), Le Canard (Duck), Le dorade royale (Snapper) and Le Souffle (Berry Souffle).
Customers are encouraged to like and share the #menustories videos in return for a jar of homemade jam from head chef and owner Jeff (Jean Francois) Salet.
The Delictessen says the future of its #menustories is that of branded entertainment “taking advertising to the next level and leaving the consumer wanting to know more about the food they are consuming. Telling stories around ingredients and dishes; and encouraging consumers to discover new dishes at a personal level”.
Odd – can’t see this video (Sunday night) on the Insta accounts of Le Pelican or the agency. Or as yet anyone using #menustories.
