Asics Oceania creates travelling salesman mockumentary to launch new Wallabies Jersey

Asics Oceania has created a mockumentary of ‘The Travelling Salesman’ to launch its new 2018 Wallabies Jersey.

Created by The Social Beat, ‘The Travelling Salesman’ features Glenden Suffolk, “an independent sales representative”, as he travels through New Zealand with the challenge of selling new Wallabies jerseys to Kiwis.

The branded content campaign chronicles Suffolk as he struggles to sell the new jersey in New Zealand despite his attempts to door knock and give away free sausages.

The Social Beat worked with The LADBible Group to create the social media campaign.

Sam Chew, general manager of marketing at Asics Oceania, said in a statement: “In an environment where interest in the sport of Rugby Union has been challenged, we were interested in exploring new and innovative ways of launching the jersey.”

Ted Helliar, director at The Social Beat, added: “Brands and rights holders can sometimes take sport too seriously in Australia. This campaign comes at a perfect time for both Asics and Rugby AU.

“This was a great opportunity to create humorous content spotlighting everyday heroes like Glenden.”
