Call for entries: Screen Australia’s Script Factory workshop

Screen Australia has put out a call for entries for their Script Factory program.

The program involves two workshops in high quality training of script analysis and development; the Script Developers Initiative, and Wrestling the Redraft.

“Screen Australia’s Script Factory program has proved immensely popular and useful for both highly experienced and up-and-coming development practitioners,” said Screen Australia’s Head of Development Martha Coleman, in a statement.

The Script Developers Initiative introduces a structured approach to assessing scripts to recognise a good screen story with greater potential and preparing development strategy by examining produced scripts as well as early work by new writers.

Wrestling the Redraft is open to graduates of the Script Developers Initiative. This workshop will go “further into guiding story development as well as exploring how to effectively manage creative relationships,” said Coleman.

The Script Factory program is in partnership with development training pioneer the UK’s Script Factory, assisting  professionals involved in the development side of filmmaking to hone their skills in a practical environment. The Australian workshops are designed to help practitioners with high-level story-analysis skills to focus on the nuts and bolts of script development and to communicate constructively with writers.

Script Developers Initiative will take in 14 applicants while Wrestling the Redraft will take in 18 alumni. The workshops will run from Monday 24 October to Friday 28 October 2011 in Sydney.

Applications for both workshops close on Friday 9 September 2011. Successful applicants will be announced in early October 2011.
