DoorDash and Afterpay ‘better together’ in new partnership

DoorDash has partnered with Afterpay to provide buy-now-pay-later finance option on all orders.

The Australian-first partnership will be launched with the Better Together campaign, led by Afterpay’s in-house creative studio Afterpay Studio, with media by Initiative and PR managed separately by each brand’s PR agency.

The partnership leverages Australian’s favourite food combinations, like fish and chips and bread and sprinkles, in a campaign that reminds us that some things are ‘better together’.

It comes as DoorDash has engaged in a series of new partnerships in its bid to increase its visibility in the Australian on-demand delivery market, signing a sponsorship deal with the National Basketball League in December and last month partnering with Touch Football Australia on a $100,000 grant-based funding project.

The campaign will roll out this week across OOH, YouTube, Display, BVOD, Spotify and radio partnerships, paid social, earned media relations and influencer engagement.

Commenting on the campaign, DoorDash general manager for Australia, Rebecca Burrows, said that the partnership further solidifies the company’s position as a leader in the on-demand delivery industry.

“We are proud to be partnering with Afterpay and leading the way in Buy now, Pay later payment options for delivery apps in Australia,” said Burrows.

“The partnership allows us to offer app users additional convenience when ordering through DoorDash, giving them the option to split their payments over time, whether it’s for their day-to-day ordering or for our affordable DashPass subscription service.”

Katrina Konstas, Afterpay’s EVP of ANZ said “Afterpay customers want flexibility and convenience, which is exactly what DoorDash offers. Together, we’re excited about the opportunity to bring customers more of what they want, at a time that suits them, while managing their budget and how they want to pay”.

The new partnership will also provide Door Dash users with three free months of Dash Pass, DoorDash’s subscription service for unlimited free delivery, when they sign up with Afterpay.
