Charlotte Cornish

Charlotte is a marketing and communications professional with expertise in cultural development. Charlotte is specifically engaged with the Australian and international visual arts sector and actively involved in arts management, arts marketing, writing and critical thinking. Charlotte is enthusiastic, organised, hard working and has her finger on the pulse.

Charlotte has experience with and is able to:

– Write and/or edit engaging media releases for diverse audiences
– Write and/or edit artist biographies
– Publicise individual and group exhibitions, events and news through digital and print publications
– Manage and coordinate collateral for exhibitions and events
– Update website, social media channels and e-mail marketing distribution channels
– Evaluate and employ channels for targeted distribution and circulation
– Strategise long and short-lead campaigns associated with timings and budget allocation
– Advise on image, design, branding and layout for print and online advertising, articles, editorials and media releases
– Track and report marketing and promotional efforts
– Strategise and manage non-paid marketing initiatives, advertising, cross promotion and publicity
– Proficient in digital marketing including EDMs, social media sites, blog sites, website administration, data entry software etc.
– Draft, write and/or edit grant and internship applications

Charlotte holds a Bachelor Business Marketing/Bachelor Visual Arts from Monash University and a certificate in Contemporary Art and certificate in Curatorial Studies from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York.

Charlotte has worked for youth-focused marketing agency The Taboo Group, commercial art galleries Sophie Gannon Gallery and Australian Galleries and auction house Leonard Joel Valuers and Auctioneers.

Charlotte completed a full time internship at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York from September 2012 – April 2013. Charlotte worked closely with Marketing Associate and Digital Marketing Associate to generate, implement and manage strategic marketing decisions for major museum exhibitions, public and educational programs, off-site exhibitions and programs and other Guggenheim Museum initiatives.

Charlotte was a project manager for Ian Strange: Suburban at the National Gallery of Victoria from May 2013 – September 2013. Charlotte worked closely with Ian Strange, David Hurlston, the marketing and publicity team at the NGV and Luke Mackinnon from Chunky Move. Charlotte advised on integral curatorial, marketing and publicity decisions and was heavily involved in delivering the artist’s outcomes through negotiation with the National Gallery of Victoria.

Charlotte is currently a gallery manager at Utopian Slumps, a curator-run commercial space in Melbourne’s CBD. Her role here involves interacting with the gallery’s artists, clients and visitors, write media releases, artist biographies and blog posts, manage the website and assist with the preparation and installation of exhibitions and art fairs.
