Mumbrella releases Publish Awards 2025 shortlist
The official shortlist for the Mumbrella Publish Awards 2025 has been revealed, with a plethora of companies, publications and individuals named.
Medium Rare Content Agency is shortlisted in an impressive 17 categories for various bodies of work. They include (but are not limited to) Magazine Cover of the Year for Coles Magazine; Best Podcast (Single Episode) for ‘Let’s Talk About Death, Baby’ — an episode of the Life’s Booming: Dying to Know podcast for Australian Seniors; and Special Edition of the Year for Qantas Magazine.
Meanwhile, “content company for women” Are Media has been shortlisted five times. Its listings — Magazine Cover of the Year; Editor of the Year; Brand of the Year; Publication of the Year; and Best Engagement Strategy — are all attributed to its lifestyle brand Better Homes & Gardens. Its Editor of the Year shortlisting specifically acknowledges employee Megan Osborne.
Rachel Iorfino from Better Homes and Gardens is in the running for Young Writer of the Year (30 or Under). Within the category, she’s joined by Pedestrian.TV’s Laura Masia; Melissa Woodley of Time Out Australia; and the 2024 winner of Journalist of the Year, Sally Spicer.
The 2025 Publish Awards introduces two new categories, Emerging Publication of the Year and the Award for Innovation.
Times News Group’s Byron Coast Times; Common Entertainment’s Common; and Never Too Small Magazine from Never Too Small are all shortlisted for the former. The latter has five entrants: Ausbiz TV, Avid Collective for Pubsuite; Future Women’s Choose Her Own Adventure; Tastebud: Rethinking Recipe Search from News Corp Australia for taste.com.au; and Zero Digital Sports.
The much anticipated Publish Leader of the Year has five shortlisted professionals. They are Kirsten Galliott, head of content, travel and business at Medium Rare Content Agency; her colleague Claire Bradley, general manager, Coles at Medium Rare Content Agency; Junkee Media editor-in-chief Alice Griffin; Moby Dick Content’s director Jack Murphy; and the editor-in-chief and chief executive officer of The Local Project, Aidan Anderson.
Apart from the Megan Osborne, the other four candidates for Editor of the Year are: Qantas Magazine’s Genevra Leek from Medium Rare Content Agency; Jacqui Kwong for Coles Magazine and also from Medium Rare; Refraction Media’s Jasmine Fellows for Cosmos Magazine, Australian University Science Magazine and Careers with Stem Magazine; and Nine’s Kristine Tarbert for 9Travel by nine.com.au.
