Lisa Wilkinson bows out of Today with 274,000 metro viewers for final show

Lisa Wilkinson’s final show as host of Nine’s Today attracted 274,000 metro viewers, falling short of Seven’s Sunrise, which managed 289,000 metro viewers.

Wilkinson announced her departure from Nine last night after failed contract negotiations.

Meanwhile, Ten’s The Project 7pm, where Wilkinson will end up in 2018, attracted 631,000 metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings.

Wilkinson’s final broadcast – although viewers did not know it at the time – beat Sunrise in Sydney and Brisbane but came in second in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Meanwhile, in primetime, the most watched program of the night was Nine’s The Block with 1.440m metro viewers, topping the key advertising demographics – 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Seven’s most watched entertainment show was Home and Away, with 725,000 metro viewers while Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention? was its most watched program, with 688,000 metro viewers.

The 6pm news battle saw Seven nab a win off Nine, with 1.004 metro viewers. Nine News had 990,000 metro viewers.

ABC placed second in the average audience shares overnight at 16.2%, thanks to a strong performance from Four Corners.

While it was behind Nine’s share of 22.9%, it tied with Seven’s share and beat both Ten’s 11.9% and SBS’ 4.5%.

Its most watched program was Four Corners at 844,000 metro viewers, which featured Sarah Ferguson’s interview with former US Presidential candidate Hilary Clinton.

Other top shows for ABC were ABC News, with 744,000 metro viewers and Media Watch, which had a metro audience of 729,000.
